The Story Behind Your Guide in Ladakh
My name is Mutup Dorjey, and Ladakh is not just a destination for me — it is my home.I was born and raised in the high mountains of Ladakh, a land where ancient monasteries stand quietly against dramatic Himalayan landscapes, and where traditions and nature are deeply connected. Growing up here, I learned to appreciate the simple beauty of village life, the stories of our culture, and the wisdom of living close to the land.My academic background is in horticulture, which deepened my understanding of nature, landscapes, and the delicate balance of our Himalayan environment. But my true passion has always been sharing the beauty and culture of Ladakh with others. For more than five years, I have been working as a tour guide and tour manager, guiding travelers from around the world across Ladakh. Each journey is different, but the goal is always the same: to help visitors experience Ladakh not just as tourists, but as guests discovering the soul of this land. For me, guiding is not only a profession — it is a way to build connections between people, cultures, and landscapes. Through Your Guide in Ladakh, my hope is to offer travelers an authentic and meaningful experience of this extraordinary region, while supporting local communities and respecting the fragile beauty of the Himalayas. I look forward to welcoming you to Ladakh and sharing this incredible journey together.

Monastery and cultural journey

Discover the spiritual heart of Ladakh through a journey into its ancient monasteries, living Buddhist traditions, and timeless mountain culture. This tour is designed for travelers who wish to go beyond landscapes and experience the deep spiritual heritage of the Himalayas.
Visit some of Ladakh’s most beautiful and historic monasteries such as Hemis Monastery, Thiksey Monastery, Alchi Monastery, and Lamayuru Monastery. Each monastery tells a unique story through its ancient murals, statues, prayer halls, and centuries-old Buddhist philosophy.
Walk through peaceful villages, spin prayer wheels, listen to the sound of monks chanting, and learn about the daily life of Ladakhi people. Along the journey, you will also experience traditional homes, local food, and the warm hospitality that defines Ladakhi culture.
Your guide will share stories of the history, symbolism of Buddhist art, and the meaning behind rituals such as prayer flags, mani walls, and kora (circumambulation). This journey is not only about visiting monasteries, but about understanding the living culture and spiritual traditions that shape life in Ladakh.

Classic Markha Valley Trek
Experience one of the most iconic Himalayan adventures on the Classic Markha Valley Trek. This unforgettable journey takes you deep into the wild landscapes of Ladakh, where dramatic mountains, ancient villages, and centuries-old Buddhist traditions create a truly unique trekking experience.
Starting from the historic town of Leh, the trail leads you into the spectacular Markha Valley—a hidden world of green oasis villages surrounded by towering red and golden mountains. As you walk along ancient caravan routes, you will cross wooden bridges, follow crystal-clear rivers, and pass through traditional Ladakhi villages where life has remained unchanged for generations.
One of the highlights of this trek is crossing the high mountain pass of Kongmaru La Pass (5,200 m), where breathtaking views of the Himalayas reward your effort. Along the way, you will also encounter small monasteries and sacred sites that reflect the deep spiritual culture of the region.
Trekkers often spot Himalayan wildlife such as blue sheep and golden eagles, while the ever-changing landscapes—from narrow canyons to wide high-altitude plains—make every day of the trek exciting and different.
Nights are spent in cozy village homestays or comfortable camps under a sky filled with millions of stars. Sharing tea with local families and learning about their mountain lifestyle makes this trek not only an adventure, but also a meaningful cultural exchange.
The Classic Markha Valley Trek is perfect for adventurous travelers who want to explore the authentic Himalayas on foot—far from crowded trails—while experiencing the warm hospitality and rich traditions of Ladakh.
The Sham Valley Trek is often called the “Baby Trek of Ladakh”, but do not let the name fool you. This beautiful journey offers a perfect blend of Himalayan landscapes, traditional villages, ancient monasteries, and authentic Ladakhi culture. The Sham Valley Trek is ideal for those who want to experience trekking in the Himalayas without extreme altitude or long difficult days. It is perfect for beginners, families, photographers, and travelers who wish to combine nature, culture, and light adventure. “Exploring Ladakh with Mutup was the highlight of our trip. He is not only a knowledgeable guide but also a wonderful storyteller who brought the monasteries and landscapes to life. We felt like we were traveling with a friend rather than a guide.”

I highly recommend Your Guide in Ladakh Mutup, the company owner and operator is extremely knowledgeable and goes out of his way to make sure every client is happy, tailoring the tours to their specific desires at every step of the way. My family and I went on several expeditions with Mutup including camping trips, driving adventures, cultural tours and more. Our two young children had a blast as did we! We can’t wait to visit Ladakh again next year! Thank you for everything Mutup! 🙏

Had the best experience doing the 7-day Markha Valley trek with your guide in Ladakh. Our guide was Mutup, the owner, who is truly one of the best people I have ever met. Mutup met with us in advance to help design the perfect trek for us (many groups do Markha Valley in fewer days and see less). Before the trek, Mutup helped arrange for us to buy/rent the right gear for the trip. During the trek, Mutup was a joy to be around. He always had a positive attitude and was super knowledgeable on the route and any questions we had (about culture, nature, and the route). After the trek, Mutup gave great recommendations on lodging, restaurants, and shopping. Throughout the whole the experience Mutup made us feel like we were family, which made everything even more enjoyable. I learned he had a group after us doing a 10-day cultural tour, I definitely plan to come back to book another tour with Mount Voyage. I definitely recommend this company to others, much better than booking with many of the other agencies in town (they charge more, the people you speak to at the agency rarely do the trek themselves, and are much bigger operations and you lose the wonderful personal touch).
